Eric, If you keeping lumping all of Amazon's spending together like it's involuntary losses, you'll never understand what's going on. America Online first acrued $1 billion in losses (more than Amazon has to date) on the way to its $150 current billion market cap.

Losses for a company like Amazon, who is deliberately accelerating spending, is different from some mature business that has no chance to grow through them.

This "losses" argument is old and tired. I read recently that Amazon has built the 16th most-valuable brand on the planet, online or not. Obviously those "losses" are buying something very leveragable.
