What do I base it on? If the packet switched data was "around the corner", Bell Atlantic and Sprint would not bother introducing circuit switched wireless data service now. It really depends on what you mean by "around the corner" but it is really easy to add circuit switched data to existing CDMA voice service so perhaps the carriers are just testing the waters and building interest before spending the money on packet switched data since it's not really ready yet. Irwin Jacobs spoke about the "first to market" advantage in wireless data. These carriers don't want the customers with the greatest need for wireless data to sign contracts with their competitors.
