I had similar concerns about other stocks. Asking myself the question, how can this company be so good if the big boys don't invest? After watching the market for a couple of years I have made some observations:
-huge investors often look only at the books not at the company.
-there is a herd mentality to the market makers.
-big players invest what they know and many clearly don't understand computer technology companies.

Look at PHTN (Photon Dynamics). To date, I am up 1,145% on this stock. Part of the reason is the big boys didn't recognize it right away (Asian economy didn't help either). It took over a year for it to get on track.

Same with GALT (Galelieo Technologies). Similar story. The company looked right, but it took a while for it to hit Wall Street's radar screen (ala financial reports).

I say take advantage of the gap. Are the big players just cautious or ignorant as well? I say both. There is risk here, but with it comes rewards. My investments are way up using this approach. Some research into the underlying technologies has payed off well.

Let the big investors catch up to you. Be a top feeder instead of a bottom feeder. If you get in after the big players you pay extra because the stock price rises when they get in.

My view is that NETP is on the right track. They are esoteric enough that Microsoft can't steal their stuff easily. A good thing, but by the same token it makes it hard for a regular person to understand what the company does. Hence, the big investors (regular people?)shy away until there is empirical proof in the form of several quarters of profits. There's the gap.

Get on and enjoy the ride, but please stay seated until the couch comes to a complete stop. Sofa, so good.
