The World Wide Web? Win95? Win98? Real Plug-and-Play? Support for USB?

Microsoft was responsible for creating the WWW? You're kidding right? They did their best to coopt it, but the consumer and the rest of the industry prevented that from happening. In fact, the WWW issue is the underlying reason for this latest trip to court. Read the latest about box, on MS IE 5.0. It lists all of the innovations that have been integrated into the IE product. None of them are Microsoft.

Win 95 basically fixed all of the bugs in Win 3x. It actually brought the windows box up to Macintosh standards. It did have really great icons though. Very few innovations at a price of $100.

Win 98 brought the consumer desktop closer to the Win NT kernel OS. Great for Microsoft. It was in affect the bridge to a single OS - Win2000.

I will grant that plug-n-play has been a great addition to Windows. But guess what.... they didn't invent that either.

USB. Integrated into the OS, but not invented by Microsoft.

You need to separate the notion of innovation from that of integration. They are very, very different issues.
