James:

That's the same thing people talked about in the early 90's when every big pharma shrunk their R&D budget (but not PFE!). I guess you are not in the pharmaceutical research field, that's why you don't have the patience. These kinda products take huge amount of money and time to develop. That's why the new and better drugs are expensive when they come to the market. PFE still have more than 10 major promising candidates in different phases of clinical trials (a claim they made about a year ago). So what if they have one or two failed! Their existing major drugs and co-marketed drugs are protected well into the 21st century. They will give them plenty of time to come up with new ones. Celebrex and Liptor are not theirs, so? They make bundles out of them, don't they? It's called "clever". Have new products is one thing, having a superb management and sales force is much more important. After all, it comes down to one thing "the sales!".

JMHO, of course.
