That is very interesting...Of course, although I credit FDR's activism with positive political effects, it had no marked affect on the Depression.(So much for Keynes). Churchill, in any event, even beats him there, having supported basic support programs earlier in his career, and even switching parties (temporarily) to do it....The long term effects of the New Deal have been ambiguous at best. Churchill deserves the top spot for rallying the developed nations against the Nazis and the Communists when the stakes were high....
