They will not use the poison pill if they get a good offer. I was at first upset about the poison pill, but not after I realised the stated intent is for us to recognise the full potential of our investment. I do not know how many publicly traded companies you have worked for, but I have worked for 7. On two occasions I have been acquired by companies that had management that proceeded to screw up the acquired companies. In one of those the incumbent manage was useless but the acquirers was worse. I do, however, agree with the sentiment of your post What caused me to write my "p**** off" post was that I am angry that Big Company knew about this for years and chose what otherwise was the most propitious time for Small Commpany to pull a stunt like this. That is why if I were a judge I would kick them out of court. It puzzles me that two companies can supposedly co-operate on technology development and not have some clear delineation of what belongs to A and what belongs to B. May be one side's lawyers were out foxed. I am also a bit upset at myself, because I have been so sure that I had invested in a good company, that I did not read every WORD in last years 1OK. When there was mention of "developed jointly" as I remember there were no caveats. In retrospect the mention appears to be a true but incomplete statement. If you have worked for a publicly traded company and had an opportunity to read EVERY word in a 10K, about a company of which you have intimate knowledge, you would know you have to ponder every word, and even the missing words. Also Small Company is the only company where I have voted against electing two of the directors, I considered them Babes in the Wood.
A previous response a month or so ago pointed out that we are in the seventh inning. I think we are in the last inning or a rain shortened game. I sure as heck would not be selling now, unless I discover something, or more likely perceive something that tells me that I was wrong to make a decision to stick it out to the end. I must admit though, that I thought the end was 2 or 3 years away and $20 per share. Most of my life I have taken my inspiration from Winston Churchill, lately it appears, Mr Bean, but in this stock, with all it's ups and downs, I am beginning to relate more closely with the knight in Monty Python's Holy Grail, the one who kept fighting even as he was losing all his limbs. |
