Fujitsu Successfully Implements Manugistics Supply Chain Solution for Production Planning Optimization
Using Manugistics6, Fujitsu Improves Cycle Time with Reduced Inventories
TOKYO, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Manugistics Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: MANU) today announced that Fujitsu Ltd. has successfully installed Manugistics' suite of supply chain solutions. This implementation enabled Fujitsu to construct an end-to-end supply chain solution for its personal computer (PC) production division; driving Company improvements for order fulfillment and PC notebook inventories.
Using the Manugistics' solution, Fujitsu expects to reduce order fulfillment time -- the period from when a production plan is created to final delivery confirmation -- from the current two weeks to only five days. As a result, Fujitsu will be able to greatly reduce both finished product and raw material inventories while preventing shortages, increasing customer satisfaction and offering competitive prices. Based on these improvements, Fujitsu plans to expand the project to include desktop PCs.
"Fujitsu's rapid results demonstrate Manugistics' compelling value for the electronics and high tech market. The Company's innovative solutions are known for driving both improvements in efficiency and top-line growth," said Terry Austin, executive vice president of electronics and high technology, Manugistics. "In this highly-competitive and time-sensitive marketplace, the savings and benefits of a proven solution, like Manugistics, is known as the business imperative for success."
The Manugistics implementation is a major focus of Fujitsu's business process reengineering effort. The Company believes the business intelligence delivered through the Manugistics' solutions will continue to drive improved purchasing and ordering benefits.
