Propaganda Case Study #1: USA vs USSR Track Meet.

Late in the cold war the US and Russia agreed to a track and field meet in order to promote detente. The event was held in a neutral country and as things would have it the US won the overall event.

Russia, not wanting to lose face amongst its friends and allies, reported the event in Pravda:
