Millstream Mines Ltd.: 1st Deep Drill Hole Started In East Blue Sky Area
TORONTO, ONTARIO--
POTTER MINE PROPERTY, TIMMINS-MATHESON AREA N. ONT.
Millstream Mines Ltd. announces the start of DEEP DRILLING to test the geophysical anomaly located EAST of the mine shaft, as indicated by Quantec's Real-Section I.P. surveys. Hole S99-06 will be drilled at 4+50w, 0+00s, Az 170, dip -60. This and further holes will test the East Blue Sky targets located between grid lines 13+50w to 4+50w.
As previously reported (PR September 28/99) the geophysical signatures of the targets to be tested are similar to those of the massive sulphide (MASU) Copper-Zinc-Cobalt mineralization in the past mine area. A successful intersection of MASU mineralization in the Eastern Blue Sky targets will have a tremendous impact on the Property's resource potential.
The company recently deepened its previously shallow drilled (March 1997) hole S97-07 (5+25w, 3+25s, Az 175, dip-50) from 401 meters downhole to 707.5 meters to gain further geological data. The hole intersected 255 meters of weak sulphide mineralization from 320 meters downhole to 575 meters. A plotting of the vertical cross section of the hole (looking west) shows the hole over-shot the now identified geophysic target and the post mineralized intrusive gabbro contact was not reached.
Ernest Harrison, President of Millstream, said "The information gathered is significant in confirming the presence of the favourable geological horizons being stratigraphically thicker than anticipated and the gabbro contact is south to southwest dipping or a cap-like intrusive that may be controlled by shallow fault structures."
Millstream's consultant geologist, David Gamble, reported from his detail logging of the drill core significant weak sulphide mineralization in the form of Pyrrhotite + Chalcopyrite (Po+Cpy) lined fractures starting at 320 meters downhole and extending intermittently to 575 meters. This style of remobilized sulphide mineralization is centered 300 meters above a well defined geophysic Real-Section I.P. anomalous zone which extends eastward, expanding and open to depth.
David Gamble summarized the new findings as "the geological significance of the coincidental geophysic Real-Section I.P. response lying below the drilled sulphide Po+Cpy fracture style mineralization in hole S97-07(ext) may represent structural remobilized leakage from a potential sulphide source at depth. In addition, the expansion of volcanic stratigraphy with depth as a result of the shallow south to southwest apparent dip of the gabbro has effectively allowed for the substantial increase of the section of prime tholeiitic stratigraphy in this area. The end result is a marked expansion of the volcanic tholeiitic stratigraphy in the 5+25w area of the Property that is well preserved, shows good signs of mineralization, and expands with depth. It is recommended that drill testing of this area/zone be carried out."
