LOS GATOS, Calif. Caere Corp.'s OmniPage Limited Edition OCR software will be bundled with Microtek Lab Inc.'s flatbed scanners models for Windows and Macintosh platforms,
In a joint press release Wednesday, the companies said the agreement is an extension of their previous OEM/bundling contract. The agreement also provides Microtek the option of including OmniPage Limited Edition with other scanners. Microtek flatbed scanner models in the agreement include the ScanMaker E3, ScanMaker E6 and ScanMaker V300. OCR, or optical character recognition software is a technology that converts scanned documents into computer-editable text.
Caere provides desktop forms processing and document management products.

Microtek Lab, a unit of Microtek International Inc., manufacturers color peripheral technologies and desktop scanners for the consumer and pre-press publishing markets.
