I also noticed the drop just before the close. Since the accompanying volume was only a few thousand shares (ie., a drop in the bucket), I wouldn't give it too much thought. Perhaps someone had a margin call? Perhaps someone needed some cash to buy into something else? Or yes, maybe someone wants to drive the price down to a) help their short position, or b) to pick up some WIN themselves. In a quiet period like this, high volatility on low volume should be expected. You can be sure that right now... behind the scenes, things are definitely is NOT quiet. As I've stated before, the real money is made in the HOLDING and by ignoring market noise. S/S
