dave, I agree with you that these threads would be better used to look for the truth. Also, i believe that we're all on the same side and have the same identical motivation regardless of whether we choose to sell or buy to open a position. One of the miraculous things about the 'net is that misinformation doesn't survive long. It is easy enough to verify or discredit something that is put forward as fact. One of my better shorts this year came from Internet denizens deconstructing the PAIR fiasco. The B&M media likes to use that as an example of the danger of the 'net. I think that example actually points out how good it is. Liars and cheats will be with us always, and on both sides of the trade. Let's remember that the perpetrator in the PAIR case was a long. How many phony take over rumors are spread every week? I've lost track of them. Those phony rumors aren't started by short sellers IMO. The only reason I think that long liars outnumber short liars is because there are so many folks who never short. Taken on a percentage basis, I'd speculate that one would find exactly the same percentage of longs as shorts are liars. I think that some folks get an opinion from looking at a set of facts, and can't imagine that someone else could look at the same set of facts and disagree. I'm not sure what the difference between 'shorts' and 'longs' is that you see. I try to take everyone on an individual level. And disagreement about a stock is the nature of the market. If everyone agreed, there wouldn't be any trading.

Regards,

Barb
