Can't remember exactly the source, but I think it's a book that's coming out, that says that Starr's delay in granting Lewinsky immunity gave Clinton time to regroup, so that Clinton could focus attention elsewhere and win the impeachment battle. My thought, which I have had all along, is that if I were Starr, I would rather NOT have the Lewinsky matter be the basis of impeachment and removal from office when there was a chance of making the case on fraud, e.g., Whitewater. Going after Clinton for lying about hanky-panky when Gingrich had a mistress, for one, just was not what I would have wanted to do, in Starr's shoes. I guess you saw that Gingrich's mistress admitted that their affair has been going on for six years. I know, I know, Clinton lied under oath, but it was about sex. Say what you will, I am just expressing my personal preference of what I would have wanted to do in Starr's shoes. Oh, well, time to take the kids to their grandmother's house, so I won't be back until much later. |
