>>>Gates told about 2,500 shareholders at the company's
annual meeting. ''But if we can't add Internet support (to the
Windows operating system), we can't do anything.'<<<

Can someone explain to me why Internet support has to be within the operating system? I am using Windows 95 with a separate stand alone browser and it works fine. Why does it have to be part of the operating system? I can understand why they would like to parlay their OS success into browser success, but what is wrong with the approach of writing a better browser (which I think they are capable of doing) and letting the market decide?

TIA,

Mark
