I did not say that finance was not a science; I said that the stock market is more of a game than a science.

Whereas finance is based on reality, the stock market is largely based on perception... the perception of the value of a company's shares. And that perception contributes to the divergence of PE's. Chart reading, meticulous analysis of financial statements, historical data and even earnings announcements cannot tell you in advance how Intel or any other stock will recisely react.
