According to the rules, if YA changed boats in mid-round, they forfeit their next race. So it went today, as USA 58 did not sail against the Swiss. But YA said they will continue to contest in Round 2 -- so they will presumably meet Cayard in the last race of the round, as scheduled. I imagine they're reinforcing the hull of USA 58 to safeguard, and will not compete again till their absolutely ready. The key is to be fit for those huge R3 pts (9 vs. 4 in R2), and make the semi-finals.

Incredible action today! Nippon was leading Cayard, but then broke its mast. (Jesus, are these boats fragile!) Prada looked like it was going to cruise yet again to another win, but then Ol' DC trumped him and dealt the Italians their first loss. America True looked good (again) in beating the French, while Abracadabra eased past the Ausies, who apparently had problems with their mainsail.

Big winds again today -- around 18+ knots. I sure hope these boats can withstand the pounding!
