I asked stewy, who works at JDSU, and posts on RB about any potential competition from the LU Wavestar router yesterday. Here is his answer:

VERY IMPORTANT

In response to the Lucent announcement that have a few people worried around here...

Go to Lucent.com and read their news release from November 9 about the new router/switch
announcement.

Now here is the exciting part.....

Read the line where it says:

Based on Bell Labs' patent-pending technology, Lucent's WaveStar™ LambdaRouter uses a
series of microscopic mirrors to instantly direct and route optical signals from fiber to fiber in
the network, without first converting them to electrical form as done today. This will save
service providers up to 25 percent in operational costs and enable them to direct network
traffic 16 times faster than electrical switches.

Note the term "WAVESTAR"tm in the statement.

Can you guess who developed the technology for, manufactures and sells this product to
Lucent..........

Are you done guessing?

I think you know the answer.

Yes, JDS Uniphase developed, manufactures, and sells this tecnology called "Metropoint -
Wavestar" to Lucent. The variations on it are variations that were designed again by
u-know-who.

A call to Lucent would confirm this.

So, those who wonder if it will affect JDSU. The answer is yes indeed. Anyone wondering
where analysts get the revenue growth from. Here is a typical example of the product at work.
The affect that Lucent's announcement has is affirmation that this product is as important as I
have heard all along.
