Mephisto,
Bargain hunters seem to be stepping in to slow the market's fall today. I have avoided the temptation. I think attention will now focus on next week's semi book-to-bill and May PPI/CPI reports. Personally, I fear that the Fed may raise interest rates in July.
The fire has been awesome. Over 60 square miles have been partially burned. Thousands of sled dogs were rescued, along with many horses, goats, cows, pigs, dogs, cats, birds, etc.
One third of all the hotshot fire crews in the country were sent up here. A new large fire just broke out on the Kenai Peninsula south of here, and some of the arriving firefighters are being diverted there. Temps and winds have dropped, and rain is likely this weekend, so it looks like we may get the upper hand.
I am separated from the main fire by an arm of the ocean. However, there have been 2 dozen small fires in Anchorage that were quickly put out. We have been asked take precautions like trimming away brush from our property, which I am doing. Danger will probably be high till rainy season arrives later this summer. June is usually as dry as the Sonora Desert here.
