Reminder, research MCOM suppliers:

From Briefing.com and AEA:

Metricom (MCOM) got a lot of attention early in the summer when they announced that Paul Allen's Vulcan Ventures and MCI/WorldCom would be investing a total of $600 million for 70% of the company, to finance the rollout of the Ricochet wireless system nationally.

The remarkable thing, however, disclosed at Metricom's presentation, is that $600 million is nowhere near enough to accomplish the plan. An additional $950 million will be needed, to be raised in an as yet undetermined mix of equity and debt.

The rollout of Ricochet nationally is expected to be completed by mid-2001. That's just 18 months from now.

And as soon as the money comes in, they plan to spend it.
One point five billion. In 18 months. Forget about Metricom's business plan. We plan to figure out who Metricom's component suppliers are.
