I just got in from scouting a large area in West Virginia. Very rugged terrain.

Funny place, West Virginia. Those folk surely do not try to impress you much. The woman at the country store saw me walk in, and after asking if she could help me said "Lemme guess, you ain't from around here, are ya?" I laughed and told her I wanted a nonresident license and she started to oblige. After a few minutes some woman yells louder than the hot place that the woman with me had better stop waistin' so much blankety blank time on one license. And then they both just had a shoutin' match. This happened with folk in the store and everything, and no one acted as if it was strange. By the time I left the store the two women were acting as if they were friends. Too much.

I hate country music but decided to crank out a bit as I drove around the countryside. The old West Virginia DJ, contrary to big city DJ's, simply came on with a crackly voice between songs to say something like this-- "Number seven will be Kenny Jones." Then he would play some country song. After the song finished he would say "Number eight will be Merle Haggard." Then he would play the song. Hilarious.

I really enjoyed my stay in that state. Those people have something good and simple there. I hope the hunting will be good.
