This is a movie that merits much intense scrutiny. I believe it was all about Spacey's acting ability and the personification of evil among us, walking like a poor sweet guy.

And of course, Spacey making that little poof....

And the point of the movie: "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled off was making people think he doesn't exist."

It is not a movie one quickly forgets, and not so filthy and perverse you cannot recommend it to even rather decent people who try to stay completely untouched from reality. This was a movie I only saw because Siskel and Ebert kept raving about it until I had to seed what was up.

But for a movie about basic scum, unworthy of life, for the most part, it is truly a masterpiece that in the end one cannot forget practically any of it.
