Now that the rumor-making is over, can we talk about why msft might be interested in the first place? I think a position by any or all of the Teledesic players would make sense for them as well as for LOR. But, maybe there is some technical shortcoming. Seems to me that C* could provide an awful lot of the functionality that Teledesic promises. Nothing is happening with Teledesic as far as I can tell; MOT has transferred all of their engineers apparently, any further developments probably run the risk of getting entwined with the Iridium mess--because of MOT's heavy involvement in both. If McCaw and Gates want broadband interactive satellite, how many choices do they have in the short term? And, as has been noted, QCOM provides a nice bridge between the two companies. Question--how hard would it be to get HDR to work through C*? Just thinking aloud.

Best,
JS
