><>...Hi Skipper
Matt 10:37-39 37 "Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; 38 and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. (NIV)
What Jesus is teaching here is that when we decide to follow Christ and His teachings, and we make Him Lord and Savior of our lives, we will most likely face some uphill battles even within our own families.... And in the case that even our mother or father should attempt to disuade us from His teachings that we must Love Jesus enough to continue in His teachings......
This is a delicated balance for some...but when we stay true to God and put Him first....all will be well....For God is not the divider of families....People are...We can love God and do the work as a servant of God and still keep the love of our family members, who may be against it, by showing them our love and yet standing firm on the word of God.....Never by any means shoving the gospel of Jesus in their face....or for that matter anyones' face...this is not the work of God....
This is the cost of discipleship....we must never under any circumstance, turn our backs on Jesus.....that is what is meant by His saying......We can't say, and still consider Jesus our Lord and Savior, .....well ok dad/mom/sister/brother/cousin/friend....whatever you say, you are right,...Jesus is wrong....and I wont consider Him my Lord anymore.......What Jesus would expect, and what we who love Him want to do is.....say to all of those who might disagree even vehemently, with the Gospel of Jesus, that ok, you can disagree, you don't have to believe...but I do....so let's just understand one another's position and continue in our love anyway....for those who do not see that as reasonable...on either side...have some growing up to do......
Hope this helps... have a blessed day Shalom.....><> |
