The Internet Analyst News - J.D. Edwards & Company Nasdaq-JDEC: Doug Massingill
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 11, 1999--Enterprise resource planning software, or ERP, is the backbone of business. It can include anything from front-office sales tools, to factory floor management tools. Denver, Colo.-based J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq:JDEC), which does a substantial business in ERP software, also offers supply chain management software. The company's market has traditionally been the small- to mid-size company with up to $2 billion in annual revenue. Today, with more than 5,400 customers in more than 100 countries, approximately one-fourth of its business comes from firms with greater than $1 billion in annual sales.
"We made three types of investments this year," said Mr. Massingill. "We made a rather significant acquisition with Numetrix in June, and that brought us both product and technology, we invested in partnerships, which includes our ability to resell market-leading products from Internet companies such as Siebel Systems (Nasdaq-SEBL) and Ariba (Nasdaq-ARBA) and the fact that we did not lay off our employees was considered an investment."
