My understanding is that there is a lot of infrastructure being built, based on a friend who works there. Also, I think VUSA's approach to ecommerce, i.e., building virtual stores for huge potential mainstream customer groups (e.g, Falwell's Ministry, the WW2 Memorial, USWired) is smart given that the people coming to the net now are no longer the early adopters but the mainstream, first time consumers. I just look at logical trends:
1. The net will continue to grow in importance
2. The amount of shopping online will increase
3. There is no reason VUSA can't grab a nice piece of the pie
In some ways I like VUSA better than AMZN--I think there is definitely a value for infomediaries, and VUSA doesn't have the logistical infrastructure to build that AMZN does.
Of course I may be wrong, but it seems a logical place to park some risk capital. Which I have done.
