Laser + Raw Materials: Pomp, the raw materials are silicon and carbon which are heated and made into wafers then sliced, polished, epitaxy added, cut into chips...the bottleneck is in epitaxy..but there is no raw material shortages.

Nichia has demonstrated a blue laser based on saphire substrate..but at a cost of $2,000! Hunter has said that until a laser can be produced for $15, it has no viable commercial use...and i believe that in the next 12 months he will announce this. one day we will wake up to a press release confirming commercial feasibility of the laser and the stock will go up 30%. I believe the development with Microvision is quite far along in this area.

Once again, Cree is the only company that has successfully commercialized SiC which has superior characteristics to saphire vs cost/performance.

This is one exciting company!
