Loki-- Thank you. Very true. There is a man that lived just miles from here now in a nursing home. He was shot in the head as the Germans pushed through and was paralyzed on the left side. The allies were driven back and it took 3 days to recover that ground. When it was retaken he was found-- black from the cold,, he was thought dead and opened his eyes when his dog tags were removed. Due to frostbite he lost both legs above the knees and the fingers of his right hand. He never married but never was angry or bitter either,,, many grew up quickly from all sides and many never had a chance to grow up,,, Thank you again... I'll get the book,,, |
