Hope I'm not 'glocking up' this thread... but not much going on here anyway! Humor me while I blab away here:

<That's not the impression that I got. I think that the author was trying to say that the "trigger" for a cancer could be a bacterial infection. I'll agree with that. >

Yes, I guess I'm taking it a step further based on personal experiences and some of the 'alternative' stuff I'm reading... I was at the dentist the other day and she claimed evidence out linking 'bad bacteria' in the mouth [don't forget to floss!] to heart disease for instance. Of course then you may have a genetic pre-disposition to weakness against certain 'bugs'? Or bugs cause different things in different people? This conclusion would lead me to believe that pre-disposed people should be fighting or avoiding those 'bugs' more rigorously than others rather than trying to change their genes.

From the article:

"But what if bugs start the process for some or many of these diseases? Are we perhaps looking in the wrong places for cures and preventative measures?

Does any of the above make any sense?

< Again, effective treatment there probably wouldn't require a new antibiotic, and I therefore don't see the relevance for MCDE, CBST, etc.>

But assuming that one took the tact that bugs caused far more disease than is currently given them credit, wouldn't MCDE's business plan of discovering new anti-infectives be a great long term investment?

Thanks for listening... hope this isn't too wacky.
