Chuck - RE: ""Gateway Athlon System Production Soon?-Chris 'ruiner' Tom 10:04 p.m. CST
That's the word I'm hearing from a contact from Gateway. The contact says they are to begin production on the 23rd of this month. If anyone can confirm/deny this, let me know."

From News.com article -

"The company will likely also begin to win over more customers. Although Gateway recently phased out AMD processors in its line, the company is likely to start using the high-end Athlon, said Robertson Stephens analyst Dan Niles in an interview. HP and others also seem to be working with AMD.

"IBM is getting production [for Athlon chips]. HP is getting production. Everyone except Gateway and Dell is getting production," he said"

The two comments parallel each other.

Imagine the article - "Gateway shuns AMD then asks for more" ;)

"So, if true, this would indicate serious problem with Intel's supply. How many points will this be worth on AMD stock?"

I'm not gonna speculate on the Intel supply part, but when the Gateway news came out, AMD's stock went down $2. I would like to get those $2 back. ;)
