MM's - Market Makers. On the NASDAQ there are at least one MM for every stock. These guys have all the power. On the New York Exchange they have Specialist....these are the guys who run the pits (not electronic). On the TSE there are no true MM's or Specialists. However there are often a single person from a broker who will play a stock like mad and people often refer to them as MM's or Specialists. However the only advantage they have over us is that they have 1 second execution and see our stops. This is still a nice advantage but nothing like the power MM's on the NASDAQ have.
