GURUMAN,
Acrodyne, like Harris, is big on the communications end (transmitters), so they do not compete directly with Tek. Zenith's role is in the consumer market, and provides digital set-top-boxes for decoding advanced televison, so they don't compete with Tek either. Tek does not make the equipment that actually does the broadcasting or receiving, they make the stuff inside the TV studio and edit studios.
As far as the investment potential of these two companies is concerned, I cannot comment because neither of them are on my tracking list. This does not been they are good are bad, it just means I don't follow them.
AVID is a different story altogether, because they are a major competitor with Tek on the video production side of things. They make video editing systems that compete with Tek's Lightworks editing systems. I would consider them a good investment because they are the "low-end" of video editing systems which has a lot growth left in it well into the next century. Tek is in the "high-end" market for the big guys like NBC and FOX, whereas AVID is more likely to sell a system to the local edit studio on a budget. I have not invested in AVID myself. Their booth at NAB was huge!
