You know there's an interesting dynamic which we must understand as an inherent flaw in Novell's marketing approach. This causes us to be wildly amazed at how the market perceives Novell and values its stock.

Novell products are mainly focused on the corporate network and lately the internet and while end users are the real benificiaries in the technology Novell produces, the decision to buy/implement/deploy Novell's products rests within corporate management (or outside the scope of the end user).

Novell has yet to develop a product that is purely end-user - that is something we can buy at a local computer outlet in a shrink-wrapped box or download from Novell's website AND this software DRIVES a revenue stream. digitalme has a consumer piece but it's not the driving force behind it and it's possible revenues. Remember, digitalme end users are limited by the sites and companies that currently support digitalme technology.

Unless AOL comes out tomorrow and throws it's weight behind digitalme, don't expect this technology to have an immediate effect on Novell's stock price.

We tend to sit here and compare Novell to other companies which develop/market and sell consumer oriented products and wonder why Novell's stock price sits at these levels. Somehow I think we are wrong to do so. We should compare Novell to companies who produce the "back-end systems" or plumbing on which other companies create/develop consumer oriented products and/or services.

There are many companies I'm sure which fall into this category.
