<Here's an announcement today that a smaller company (with as many CDMA patents as QCOM and a much lower PE)is definitely in the new ITU 3G standards with its own intellectual property rights:> Bill, my opinion is that Interdigital is more litigious than inventive. I even hesitate to discuss them because I would not be surprised to be sued if I say anything which could be construed as being even faintly negative. I don't think litigious is a negative. Lawyers are wonderful people, interested only in truth and justice. So, Interdigital being full of them is meritorious and shows great respect for the law, which is definitely NOT a ass. Though it IS an onager!
That news release doesn't say [that I saw] that any IP of Interdigital would be used. They said proposals of Interdigital's were included in the standard, which is not the same thing.
Your comment that Interdigital has as many CDMA patents as Qcom is meaningless. IP does not work by democratic vote. Interdigital patents could be valid, but useless in the real world where people want to buy stuff and do things. They might be patents for CDMA in 10GHz range using click beetles as DSPs. That doesn't mean anyone wants them or they'll enable a working handset to be built.
Interdigital is a wonderful company, with wonderful solicitors and they have already managed to delay CDMA sufficiently to get Qualcomm to agree to pay them several $$millions.
Any day now, they with their licensees are probably going to launch a multimaniamobile amazing WWeb system and take over the industry.
I guess you are putting ALL your money into the stock. Go for it. Just do it, to coin a phrase. But remember, Paradigm Shift Happens [TM] and it's possible it will take them until at least next year before it's fully operational. By the way. Interdigital is a great company. The announcement was GREAT news for vendors, manufacturers and potential users. How exciting.
Bill, BUY those Interdigital shares now. They are CERTAIN to do a Q! I'll even give you a double your money back guarantee [certain terms and conditions apply]. Oh yes, keep in mind, the above disclaimer applies to recommendations to buy too.
Mqurice
PS: Oops, I see Mighty Q! hit a new all time high [$388.5] and a vast number of shares were traded in the biggest [still running] trading day in Q! history. Brokers are making a fortune. 14.5m shares at $383 or so = $5.5bn!!!!! That deserves those exclamation marks. Holey Moley, to coin a phrase [which is NOT a negative comment on religion and all disclaimers above should be read in conjunction with that remark].
PSst, Bill, have you checked SI terms of use [you might be touting a stock or something - maybe spamming, OT and stuff like that in regard to that wonderful company with excellent solictors, Interdigital].
An onager: nzp.com An old device, now revised and reinvented by Interdigital for hurling photons in a brilliant rainbow of B-CDMA signals across the firmament. Also a kind of Mongolian ass. geocities.com Which is about the time that Ericy also invented CDMA. Success has 100 fathers and failure is an orphan. |
