OK, that's all very nice Dan, but what about today? What's going on today?
I'll tell you. I'm on record saying the market will "roar in November" #reply-11672868 and I shared that opinion back in October before all these record days on the NASDAQ.
If you recall, the Hot Shots in New York back then were saying they were waiting for the DOW to fall to 9,500 before they commit. What they didn't realize, is that they had already made up their minds to be buyers. Those who got in at the low 10,000s, are doing OK, but some are still stand'n there a look'n, wondering what's a cook'n.
Look at Merrill Lynch and what they are saying. They downgraded BMY on 10/20 based on the lame reason that BMY had the second highest multiple in the industry #reply-11905213. Well, that didn't keep BMY down for long. Today, Merrill is at it again with a downgrade on INTC #reply-11905681. Who's to say these downgrades aren't an attempt to slow the train so they can get on board?
OK, now for Messagemedia. Like Merrill, Messagemedia faces a roaring market or a market that is moving faster than they expected. Their lack of PR and recent 144 filings #reply-11906115 suggest they are trying to hold price below $15/shr while they tie up some loose ends. What ever those loose ends may be, is anybody's guess.
Case in point, Messagemedia has had plenty of opportunities to jump before the camera but they are in "Run Silent, Run Deep" mode, particularly on Europe. Outside of a Joint Venture announcement with Softbank and Vivendi #reply-11472605 we know little about their European initiative. A quick look at their European partners on their homepage #reply-11907244 indicates they now have a presence in Austria, England, France, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, and Sweden. In other words, there have plenty of opportunities to "break wind".
The interesting play on Messagemedia right now is volume. As volume increases, the chances of taking insiders out of play increases. It also means Messagemedia is running out of time. Thus the question becomes, will Messagemedia get its loose ends tied up before serious momentum kicks in?
Regardless the outcome, Messagemedia will be the little mouse that roared. |
