I was wrong about Wash Sale Rules Wash Sale Rule extends in both directions, forward and back in time. Your 2nd purchase would invalidate the loss even tho it occurred prior to the sale of the 1st 500 shrs. I thought I understood how this worked, but after posting I thought I'd better check and when I did I found I was wrong. Sort of like doing one's research after buying the stock. <G> Sorry.
