ZO I appreciate your point but I think that right now there is a greater urgency
in a more rapid telco deployment than there was 1 or 2 years ago.

There ae several reasons I think why NN will be sold/merge now:

The time for testing has been the past 5 years.

First Kid on the block
Now with the Telecom Act opening up competition everybody is trying to get into
everybody else's turf.
Winning customers, now, first kid on the block, now,
is very important from a business view point.

So as data, video and voice merge I believe Telcos are ready to go.
They want to be able to launch a full data-video-voice network right now
especially as Europe and Asia are waking up from last year.

Europeans want to compete with US
I believe European Central Bankers by refusing to sell anymore Gold
have thrown the gauntlet down to the burgeoning US debt/derivatives
and they want to support the Euro and make that as strong a currency
as the US $. They ar ebacking it with gold.

A strong Telecom system is just as important to nationalist European pride
so Europeans are ready to dish out cash to buy technology

Telcos are expanding NOW:
From coast to coast from east to west and around the globe.

One stop shopping
CSCO's idea of one stop shopping has a lot of attraction.
Customers will go there.
The whole thing is too complicated to buy this from company A and hook it up to that
from company B.
Telcos may even select a 2nd quality product just to get the network up and running now.
To do that you got to be big, you got to achieve critical mass.
Once NN hooks up with " Bigness " then, with all the $$$$$
from " Bigness " you can beta launch, test and keep playing to your hearts desire. But, right now we got to go.

I suspect TM knows this.

However he is an englishman schooled in hardball rugby.
But he has playing hardball for the past 2 years.
Now we have to finish the game. He is running out of time.

They are starting the " NN Auction ""

I am happy that they have announced that they are in talks with ALA.
To my recollection, this is the first time NN has announced these kind of talks.
It tells me that NN is signaling that they are ready to move on this.
Their announcement I think makes it more exciting.
Because i think that there are many " Bignesses that would like to have NN's ATM technology.
Not only THAT but ALSO ,
they do not want another " Bigness " to get it and do a job on them .
So I think that NN is putting itself up for auction.

I believe the matter will be wrapped up by next weekend.

All IMHO,

TA
