New Access...

Overview

Located in California's Silicon Valley, New Access Communications is an
innovative new company in the field of optical networks. Since its inception
in 1998, New Access has been developing next generation transport
system for metropolitan and regional networks.

As the internet continues to fuel exponential bandwidth growth in the public
network, more scalable, cost effective solutions are needed for service
providers building the next generation networks. These solutions must
address both current and future needs of service providers. New Access is
developing this technology for regional, metropolitan, and access networks.

New Access' Products

The MetroFusion product line from New Access Communications is a next
generation transport system, based on Dynamic Dense Wave Division
technology. Its architecture allows for any-to-any node connectivity on a
metropolitan ring at unprecedented cost/bandwidth ratio. Current DWDM
ring systems require a wavelength per connection on a ring resulting in
exorbitant prices. The MetroFusion architecture is optimized for Internet
traffic by utilizing a central cross-connecting element, called the
MetroCore, to allow full interconnectivity among ring nodes while only
requiring a single wavelength per node. Other DWDM systems have been
designed for business-to-business or point-to-point communications where
not all nodes belong to the same network. As a result, the cost of such
systems scale as the square of the number of nodes, whereas the
MetroFusion system costs scale linearly with the number of nodes.

MetroFusion has been enthusiastically received by the industry as
evidenced by the following awards:

COMNET 1999 - Best of Show, New Product Achievement Award
SuperComm 1999 - Honorable Mention, Most Promising New
Technology - SuperQuest Award

Founded

New Access is a privately held, venture-funded company incorporated in
March 1998 under the state laws of Delaware. Founder Dr. Near Margalit
invented the Dynamic DWDM technology in the New Access products.
