I've been tempted for months to try Richard's suggestion. But then over and over again, I've seen index or TICK charts reversals immediately force a pullback or violation on a perfectly good stock setup (a high flag, cup and handle, etc).

Seems to me the larger market does exert an influence. If the stock's trend is stronger though, it can and will do what it wants.
