Is this thread dying?

Then, I guess it's OK to go a bit off topic.

Although AFCO's primary line of business was selling coated glass, they shifted priorities. In the last year, they've spent $2.9m developing their new ATX-700 coater. That initiative turned a $0.77/share FY98 EPS into a $0.06 loss. They've really bet the company that there is room for a U.S. equipment company to compete with Ulvac (Japan) and Balzers (Germany).

It might be a good bet, too. They are trying to sell the ATX-700 for $5-7m, which would add $1.43-2.00 to earnings. The main claim they make for the machine is that it coats MgO faster than competing systems. MgO is the dielectric layer in a plasma display panel (PDP), but volumes are low. The price is too high, so the technology has not gained market acceptance. Several new PDP fabs are planned or under construction. AFCO already has a Korean customer, so they may hit the jackpot.
