70+% Berlin load factor from day one!

Virgin Express (NASDAQ:VIRGY) says Berlin bookings strong
Reuters, Wednesday, November 10, 1999 at 09:46

BRUSSELS, Nov 10 (Reuters) - European budget airline Virgin Express <VIRGY> said bookings on services which started Wednesday on routes between Berlin and several other European cities had been strong, with over 70 percent of seats filled.

"Bookings have proven to be extremely successful with over 70 percent load factors during the first week of operations, and over 24 percent of direct bookings via the Internet, the highest ever for a launch market demonstrating the German public's enthusiasm for e-commerce," Brussels-based Virgin said in a statement.

Virgin Express Managing Director John Osborne said in the statement that the airline had already sold over 30,000 seats on the routes between Berlin and Rome, Brussels and London Stansted airports.

"This response has by far exceeded the initial optimism we felt from our market research and proves that Berlin was a market yearning for a low-fare service," Osborne was quoted as saying.
