rudedog. Re: "It is interesting to me that CPQ's new style is the opposite of Hype" I agree. This does seem a new focus. Also, it is better for CPQ NOT to make too big a deal about it. That would make DELL react faster. MC also said, I believe, that it would represent only 10%-15% of sales. That was calculated too, as part of a new policy of underpromise and overdeliver.

Re: "perhaps even going too far in that direction (as with the "no guidance" policy)." You could be right here, but it may be that the Board's direction to MC is "no more big surprises". I remember one of Rosen's comments when he was CEO that they need to make earnings more predictable. This seems to be a payoff on that promise.
