Best Buy (USA) & Tata Consultancy join hands

Mumbai: Best Buy Company of USA has engaged Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as a strategic business partner to support its application systems maintenance efforts.

"Best Buy's objective is to provide world class support for our existing applications while increasing our capacity and focus on new technologies that sustain the business and fuel our growth," Best Buy chief executive Marc Gordon said.

"This partnership brings together two world class IT organisations, each committed to excellence. It provides an opportunity to focus our people and resources on delivering solutions that drive competitive advantage."

TCS will provide maintenance and support to Best Buy's legacy applications portfolio. The application systems will be supported by TCS from Best Buy locations in Minnesota and TCS facilities in India on a 24-hour basis. Best Buy will complete the transition of the applications maintenance function over the next six months.

Best Buy personnel associated with maintenance and support activities will be redeployed on new technology initiatives. "Our employees will benefit from a series of new and challenging opportunities to be on the cutting-edge of retail technology," Gordon added.

TCS, a division of Tata Sons Limited, was formed in 1968 and is Asia's largest independent IT organisation operating on a global scale. Best Buy selected TCS from a list of top global vendors after a rigorous evaluation process.
