I believe it was in Jan 98 when ORCL gave out warnings. (That was the only time ORCL did not meet expectations.) Because Larry did not give analysts pre-warning before public, they were mad at him for over 8 months. But brain dead analysts wanted to be spoon fed in easy way, LE didn't. Instead, he issued many many good press releases and delivered good numbers to earn ws's trust back. Check the following chart.
