As far as style goes I think that Milan Kundera has to be considered. His method of telling the same story form different points of view (different characters) has had a huge influence on not only literature but film as well..."Pulp Fiction", "Go" are two very recent examples. Not to mention that he is a fantastic writer (especially "Life Is Elsewhere")
