I am looking forward to seeing the school project story in print. I remember that you agreed with me, that it is so bogus, don't have a better word, for parents to do their kids projects for them, but I think a lot of parents do so as a matter of course. Or maybe their kids are just more perfect than mine.
As for Ben's math class, he is the one who decided to go for it, I am not pushing him at all, I thought it might be too hard, to begin with, and suggested that he not take it, and I told the teacher to let me know if he couldn't do it. The only thing I say now is that once he decided to do it, not to give up just because the going got tough. He has discussed giving up and retaking a class, but he has no reason to retake Algebra I, and no reason to retake Geometry, so there's nowhere to go, except maybe not take it as the GT/IB course, and he doesn't want to do that, either. The option between quitting and flailing about is tutoring, and I hope his dad can do it, and that does seem to be working as long as I keep after both of them.
I would rather he tried art, acting, and journalism, myself, that was what I liked the best. |
