Paul, I found Valence's relationship with Goldtron described on page 5 of the 1996 annual report. It is a joint venture created in 1994 that was put on hold for the R&D period and may be re-activated. I don't know how Goldtron's association with Toru Nagaura would fit.

The 40% savings in material cost mentioned by Toru Nagaura appears to be based on the substitution of manganese dioxide for Cobalt for cathode material, which we know has been Valence's focus.

The article adds depth to how we already perceive supply vs demand for the technology.

Incidentally, I was in a Batteries Plus store today and found rechargeable NiCad and NiMh batteries for cellphones and laptops but no Lithium-ion. If they were readily available, I am sure Batteries Plus would carry them.
