Victor. Re: "the fear that there may be a negative warning or surprise." Your POV has much to commend it. And I believe that CPQ's goal is to earn back the respect of investors such as yourself. That's why the shift to underpromise and overdeliver. I also like the absence of HYPE. MC seems to be an adult.

I believe MC is sincere about 4Q and not playing games. He also said that CPQ would have an excellent quarter based on the current "book", but the future was too cloudy to predict. I think that's fair.

Re: "I feel confident about COMPAQ moving to $26-28 in the present state of our common knowledge..." That would be nice. From your lips to God's ear. However, CPQ is a "turnaround" company and there will be lots of backing and filling until it reaches a steady growth rate.

I think your "$35-36 before the end of January" is highly unlikely, for a stock that has disappointed so much and so consistently in the past. This one may require a lot of patience, which may make "trading positions" look like dead money for awhile. BWDIK
