another point of interest was their apparent capitulation on ppro being suitable for mass market. they essentially said that they expected ppro to quickly die-out in high-end consumer apps, and then to slowly die out on corporate desktops as pentium ii prices fell. leaving the ppro as their long-term preferred server solution for x86 platforms.

where i thought the analysts blew it was not asking intc's take on the newly-price-slashed speedier dec alpha vs ppro for the corp servers.
