Hi Pravin Kamdar; This Athlon 500 overclocked to 800 is just amazing. AMD has a lot of mileage left in that chip. Imagine what AMD must be doing as far as bin splits, when their 500MHz parts are doing this. This is unreal.

I now have no doubt that the clock frequency of the .25u Athlon is thermally limited or current limited, rather than the usual process limited. While previous over clockers were getting 30% over clocking by lowering the voltage to the Athlon, this guy got a 60% over clocking by raising the voltage. So the guys who had to lower the voltage did have thermal or current limited chips. This guy must have had a better power supply (so the poor chip wasn't current limited).

This processor has legs. The investment community is going to take 3 or 6 months to figure out what is going on, but it is inevitable now. Meanwhile, Intel continues to be tied to Rambus...
